The Diabetes Insipidus Foundation's
Second Annual Conference - Baltimore, Maryland
Sheraton Inner Harbor
August 6 - 7, 2005

Mark your calendars! DiF will be holding its 2nd Annual Conference August 6-7 in charming Baltimore, MD, in the Sheraton Inner Harbor. The conference will begin with a buffet breakfast Saturday morning and will continue throughout the day, with featured speakers such as Dr. Gary Robertson, a world-renown expert on DI and the chair of DiF's Scientific Advisory Committee. Sometimes referred to as Dr. DI, what he doesn't know about DI isn't known anywhere.

One of the more popular features of last year's conference will be repeated in 2005: the kid's roundtable. Moderated by an adult familiar with DI, this is an opportunity for children to talk about their experiences with DI in a safe, non-judgemental atmosphere.

Many participants at last year's conference were moved to tears by the testimony of those who shared their stories and experiences with DI during the Personal Perspectives sessions. We're repeating this again this year, so please consider sharing your story with us. You can sign up with your registration, or you can sign up at the conference. Speaking times will be allotted on a first come, first serve basis.
A new addition to the conference schedule are the breakout sessions, in which conference participants can meet in small groups about issues and concerns that are the most important to them. We're looking for volunteers to moderate these sessions, so please consider volunteering to moderate a session with your registration.

Although lunch and dinner on Saturday are "on your own," we encourage conference attendees to go together to eat and continue their sharing with each other. Finally, on Sunday, the day begins with a buffet breakfast, DiF's annual meeting, and more sharing and more fun!

Come to Baltimore!

OK, you all know about the Star Spangled Banner. But where was ice cream invented - and cyberspace? Who built the first railroad on the planet? And the American Civil War - it started here.

Baltimore literally stands at the crossroads of history and innovation-with more incredible firsts than you might imagine. What's more, the port city retains an international flair, not only around its Inner Harbor, but also throughout its patchwork quilt of charming neighborhoods, each with their own individual charm and flavor.
And speaking of flavor, no visit to Baltimore is complete without a taste of its world-renowned Chesapeake Bay cuisine.

According to movie director/producer John Waters, Baltimore is among the more enjoyable stops on the east coast, and its closely knit neighborhoods and historic quarters provide an engaging backdrop to many diverse attractions, especially those along its celebrated waterfront, like the Inner Harbor's National Aquarium and the Pier 6 Concert Pavilion and Power Plant entertainment complex. The city also boasts top-rated museums, like the Walters Art Museum and the child-oriented, interactive Maryland Science Center, which cover everything from fine arts through black history to urban archeology. There's also the USS Constellation, which was the last all-sail war ship built by the navy. There are many old neighborhoods in Baltimore to see such as Fells Point, which is a small shipyard community full of markets, ethnic delicacies, and great seafood restaurants; and the Federal Hill district in Baltimore where you can see stunning panoramic views of Baltimore city.

That Baltimore has been home to such diverse figures as writers Edgar Allan Poe and Anne Tyler and civil rights activists Frederick Douglass and Thurgood Marshall goes some way towards explaining its sometimes bizarrely varied character, but it's still hard to pin down exactly what makes it such an engaging city to visit, and to live in.
All of this is why Baltimore is still called Charm City.
